GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Floridas seniors, those four guys who fell just short of the Final Four the last three years, talked about cutting down the nets after clinching the Southeastern Conferences regular-season championship. It was a brief conversation. And a unanimous decision. The top-ranked Gators chose not to break out the scissors. If they keep playing like they did against LSU on Saturday, they might end up with an even bigger celebration. Dorian Finney-Smith scored 16 points, and Florida used a season-high 13 3-pointers to overwhelm the Tigers 79-61 and extend its school-record winning streak to 21 games. "Everybody on the team didnt feel comfortable cutting them down right now because we knew we have more of a journey to go," guard Casey Prather said. Prather and Michael Frazier II added 14 points apiece for the Gators, who also won their 31st straight at home. This one was never in doubt. Florida (27-2, 16-0 SEC) scored the first eight points of the game, opened up a double-digit lead with consecutive 3-pointers from DeVon Walker and Finney-Smith and put the game away early in the second half with a flurry of points in the paint. Prather made three consecutive driving finger rolls after the break. Patric Young had a dunk and then a left-handed hook shot. And Prather followed with a dunk and another driving layup that put Florida up 62-38 with about 11 minutes remaining. About the only thing left to see was whether Florida would cut down the nets. The Gators clinched the title Thursday night with Kentuckys loss to Arkansas, and many expected they would ceremoniously celebrate in front of a sellout crowd Saturday. It was never going to happen. Prather, Young and fellow seniors Scottie Wilbekin and Will Yeguete chose not to cut down the nets. "We felt it was given to us when Kentucky lost," Wilbekin said. "I was sitting on my couch watching TV. I didnt do anything." Coach Billy Donovan wouldnt have let them do it anyway, especially not with what happened in 2007. That team, the defending national champion led by Joakim Noah and Al Horford, cut down home nets after winning the SEC title and then lost its next two games. "I regret that," Donovan said. Although Donovan believes his senior-laden team can handle distractions, he figures its best to stay focused on the goals within reach. "You want to be playing well this time of year," Donovan said. "When you get to this point in time of the season, you dont want to play like youre trying to protect something, when youre back on your heels, We dont want to lose being No. 1 and we dont want to lose at home and we want to keep the streak going. "Once you get into trying to avoid things and trying to prevent things from happening, I think inevitably you get tight, you get frozen and you dont play. The biggest thing for us that Ive been trying to explain for our guys is there are things out there for us to chase. What are we going to chase? What are we going to go after?" Florida looked every bit like a championship-calibre team against LSU -- and in dominant fashion. The Gators had been in a number of nail-biters in recent weeks, winning their previous seven games by 10 points or less. They either trailed or were tied at halftime in each of those. This one was the complete opposite. The Gators never trailed. They led 41-25 at halftime and didnt even have a second-half lull. "It says a lot about the team," LSU coach Johnny Jones said. "They sit there and theyve already clinched the championship and for guys to come out and play as motivated and as hard as they did tonight. ... I think when you have a senior team like they are and guys are able to make plays like that and are used to winning, some great things can happen for you." Johnny OBryant III led the Tigers (17-11, 8-8) with 18 points. Jordan Mickey added 14 points and 10 rebounds for LSU, which lost its seventh straight on the road. There was little LSU could do to stop Florida, which just got .... from the 3-point line. The Gators made 13 of 23 from behind the arc. It was just the fourth time this season that they reached double digits in 3s. "I was happy our guys shot the ball with confidence and it was good to see the ball go in the basket for those guys," Donovan said. http://www.flyknitnikesoldes.fr/nike-roshe-one-flyknit-jasper-blanche-femme-chaussures-de-course-sale.html . -- The guys in green raced off the court and into the locker room where they danced and sang, compared whose shot was most likely to end up featured on "One Shining Moment," and checked Twitter to see who was giving them a shoutout. http://www.flyknitnikesoldes.fr/nike-payaa-qs-army-verte-homme-femme-chaussures-807738-300.html . -- C.J. Kalish got his first hit since Sept. 11, 2012, when he rapped an RBI triple in the first inning Sunday in the Chicago Cubs 8-3 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies.WINNIPEG -- Even ugly wins are good, said Winnipeg Blue Bombers coach Mike OShea after his team overcame struggles to beat the Ottawa Redblacks 36-28 in the expansion teams CFL debut on the road. "If you can win ugly, win ugly, it dont matter, its a win," said OShea as the Bombers improved their record to 2-0 to start the season, just one win less than the team managed in all of 2013. "The guys in the locker-room are just feeling it. A win like that just gets them tighter and tighter together and gets us closer to where we need to be. Theres still lots of work to do . . . but they get that." Outside the other dressing room at Investors Group Field, another rookie head coach had less to be happy about. "Were incredibly disappointed to lose," said Rick Campbell. "That was one that was there for the taking. Its a hard league to win in. Youve got to make sure you make enough plays to win the game and they made one more than we did." Veteran quarterback Henry Burris said they failed at many levels. "We were way too inconsistent when it counted," said Burris. "This is a team loss because in every aspect we could have done better." With three first-quarter touchdowns, two from running back Chevon Walker and another from slotback Dobson Collins, Burris and the Redblacks jumped into an early lead. But after that, the Bomber defence pretty well shut them down for most of the game and Winnipegs special teams helped to even things up. Ottawa had two field goals and a single in the last three quarters of football as the Bombers edged closer. Demond Washingtons 96-yard kick return for a third-quarter touchdown was huge for the Bombers, and running back Nic Grigsby had three touchdowns, including the game winner in the fourth quarter. "It was awesome getting that feeling back, being able to be the spark plug for the game and help the team finish with a big win," said Grigsby, who has been out of football for a while after a stint at the B.C. Lions camp in 2012. An injury to Will Ford saw him get the starters spot although his performance in camp also made it a tough decision. Lirim Hajrullahu had three field goals for the Bombers. Quarterback Drew Willy smacked his throwing hand, perhaps on a helmet, but says he will be ready to play in Montreal and at no point did he think of leaving the game. "The third quarter it definitely bothered me but the guys did a good job telling me to keep fighting through it, fighting through the pain," he said. "Obviously our croowd wad behind us and thats tough on any away quarterback.dddddddddddd" The game marked the return of Ottawa to the league it left in 2006 due to money troubles. That, plus Winnipegs win in its season opener, put a few more fans in the seats with a count of 27,553. And they were deafening when the Redblacks had the ball. CFL commissioner Mark Cohon was on hand for the historic occasion. "I think we have a great franchise in the Ottawa Redblacks," said Cohon, who started working to bring Ottawa back into the league shortly after he became commissioner in 2007. "When we did that deal, to where they are today, its a much stronger league and theyre very happy to be part of something that is growing. And I think theyre one of the big reasons why theres a lot of excitement this year around the league." Unlike last week, when Winnipeg opened its season against the Toronto Argonauts, there was no early Bomber scoring drive. Willy went two and out. Instead, Burris took advantage of midfield position on his first possession to set up Ottawas first touchdown on a four-yard run by Walker to make it 7-0. He followed it about two minutes later with a 58-second drive and 26-yard pass to Collins and the Redblacks took a 14-0 lead. Up to that point, the Bomber offence hadnt managed to get out of their half of the field. Willy finally connected with Nick Moore for 51 yards to get in scoring range on a six-play 73-yard drive with about four minutes left in the first. Grigsby carried it the last yard to get the Bombers on the board. But Ottawa wasnt finished and Walker caught an eight-yard pass to make it 21-7 before the quarter ended. The Redblacks stalled in the second with penalties and finished the game with 16 to Winnipegs 12, although both lost 120 yards as a result and OShea said thats an area he wants to see fixed. Winnipeg narrowed the gap with Grigsbys four-yard run for his second touchdown of the night. Hajrullahus 47-yard field goal as the half ended made it 21-17 and he hit with a 16-yarder just over four minutes into the second half to bring the Bombers within one. The Redblacks crept ahead on Mahers single and widened it a little more to 25-20 with his 44-yard field goal just before the third quarter ended. He hit at 19 as well in the fourth to make it 28-20. Washingtons return touchdown again brought the Bombers within two as Willy missed the two-point conversion, but it was left to Grigsby to deliver the final blow and Hajrullahus 37-yard field goal with about 30 seconds sealed the victory.
