The Buffalo Sabres and Edmonton Oilers are the two worst teams in the NHL, and the Sabres are certainly deserving of that distinction as theyre mired in the longest losing streak in franchise history. Theyll try to prevent it from reaching 13 tonight when they go for a fifth straight win in Edmonton. The Oilers have lost four of six, with the victories coming against teams from the East. Edmonton, 9-7-1 against the opposing conference, returned from the All-Star break with a 2-1 loss to Minnesota on Tuesday. It was one of those games that we could have seen ourselves winning, but we had too many turnovers, said center Boyd Gordon, who tied it in the second period. It was one of those games that we kind of let slip away. Edmonton may be without Taylor Hall for a second straight game after suffering a bone bruise in his leg during practice earlier this week. The left wing has two goals in his last three against Buffalo, and his 29 points tie him with Jordan Eberle and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins for the team lead. Nugent-Hopkins doesnt have a point in three career meetings with the Sabres, while Eberle has one in four. The Sabres will again turn to Jhonas Enroth after he allowed at least four goals for the fourth straight start Tuesday. Enroth has been the starter for seven of the losses during the skid while posting a 4.90 goals-against average. Buffalo (14-31-3) finished last in the league in 2013-14, and its in the same position this season while sitting two points back of the Oilers (12-27-9), who are in the Western Conference cellar. The Sabres spiral to the bottom of the NHL has turned historic. Theyve set a team record with 12 straight losses, and theyve all come in regulation for the longest such skid since Pittsburgh went 13 games in 2003-04. Buffalo is also 0-11-1 in its last 12 on the road, surrendering an average of 4.58 goals while scoring 1.75 per game. That continued in Tuesdays 4-1 loss at Calgary, as Buffalo gave up three goals in the third period while being outshot 15-2 and 31-18 overall. Its frustrating. We played 40 minutes of good hockey and came out in the third and kind of just crumbled, right wing Chris Stewart said. We did have our chances and we just have to bear down. When they got their chances they put them in. That was the difference. Stewart has been a rare bright spot for the Sabres, collecting four points in the last three games while scoring in each of the past two. He had eight goals and two assists in his last six visits to Edmonton while playing with St. Louis. Drew Stafford has eight goals and two assists in seven career games against the Oilers, scoring in a 3-2 home loss Nov. 7 and a 3-1 victory at Rexall Place on March 20 as the Sabres won for the fourth straight time there. Craig Anderson is outside the blue paint trying to make the save.MILWAUKEE -- Pitcher Yovani Gallardo delivered a pinch-hit double that drove home the winning run with two outs in the 10th inning Tuesday night, foiling Baltimores strategy and sending the Milwaukee Brewers over the Orioles 7-6. With the pitchers spot on deck and knowing Milwaukee was out of position players, the Orioles intentionally walked power-hitting Mark Reynolds with two outs and no one on base in the 10th. Brewers manager Ron Roenicke then sent up Gallardo -- a starting pitcher who was 1 for 14 this season -- to bat for reliever Francisco Rodriguez (2-1). Gallardo drove a 2-0 pitch from T.J. McFarland (0-1) to deep centre field to win it. Reynolds earlier hit his 12th homer. The Brewers blew an early 5-0 lead, but tied it at 6 with two outs in the ninth on an infield single by Jonathan Lucroy. Lyle Overbay singled to open the ninth and Jean Segura sacrificed pinch runner Elian Herrera to second. Ryan Brauns ground out sent Herrera to third, and he scored when Lucroy hit a chopper and barely beat third baseman Manny Machados throw to first. The Orioles took a 6-5 lead in the seventh on pinch hitter Steve Pearces three-run homer. Nelson Cruz hit his major league-leading 17th homer in the Baltimore fifth. He walked to open the seventh, and an error by Segura on his flip from shortstop set up Pearces homer off Matt Garza. The Brewers, who blew a 6-4 lead in the ninth inning on Monday and lost to the Orioles in the 10th, powered their way to early lead.dddddddddddd Carlos Gomez hit a three-run homer and solo shots by Reynolds and Khris Davis, all off starter Wei-Yin Chen, made it 5-0 through the fourth. NOTES: Brewers 3B Aramis Ramirez, on the disabled list since May 13 with a left hamstring injury, fielded grounders before the game. "It felt good. I took like 20-25 groundballs," he said. "I am going to take it day by day and when I am ready, I am ready." ... Brewers reliever Jim Henderson, on the DL with inflammation in his right shoulder, received a cortisone injection. "Hopefully that clears it up a bit more," said Henderson, who experienced discomfort in his shoulder during his minor league rehab assignment on Friday. "We need to free it up and be pain-free and then well be good to go, really. Im going to just ice it and make sure the injection stays in there and does its work. Then we can get back to strengthening it and exercising again." ... Gomez extended his hitting streak to eight games. ... Lucroy doubled in the eighth to extend his hitting streak to nine games, the Brewers longest this season. ... Prior to the game, the Orioles activated 1B Chris Davis from the paternity list and optioned C Steve Clevenger to Triple-A Norfolk. Davis went 0 for 4.
