(SportsNetwork.com) - It was a perfect, yet ironic, ending to the FCS regular season Saturday. The only team to finish with an unbeaten record in the regular season is not headed to the FCS playoffs. Still, 15th-ranked Harvard couldnt be any happier to be 10-0 after it beat Ivy League rival Yale, 31-24, for the eighth straight year. The Ivy League is one of the two FCS conferences that doesnt send its champion to the playoffs. The Southwestern Athletic Conference stages a conference championship game and doesnt send its champion to the playoffs, although the teams not in the title matchup are eligible for at-large bids - which has never happened previously. Second-ranked Coastal Carolina (11-1) fell short of a perfect regular season when Liberty blocked a game-ending field goal attempt and nipped the Chanticleers, 15-14, for the Big South Conferences automatic bid to the playoffs. The two rivals shared the Big South title. Coastal will gain an at-large bid when the NCAA announces the 24-team field on Sunday in addition to Liberty (8-4) automatically moving in with its first-ever bid.
