The Ottawa Senators wrap up a five-game road trip against the New York Islanders in the opener of a home-and-home set tonight. Viewers in the Senators region can watch the game on TSN5 at 7pm et/8pm at and listen to it on TSN Radio 1200 starting at 5pm et. The Senators dropped to 1-3-0 on the current road trip with Saturdays 4-1 loss at Tampa Bay. However, Ottawa (10-9-4) has totaled 22 goals during a 4-0-1 stretch on Long Island, but hasnt recorded more than three in a game while losing five of seven. Youre losing momentum, so we have to get momentum back on our side, Ottawa coach Paul MacLean said. The only thing you can do is win your next game. After missing two games, forward Bobby Ryan will be a game-time decision. Fourth on the team with 13 points, Ryan is out indefinitely after he suffered a fractured finger in Fridays 3-2 loss at Florida. Teammate Clarke MacArthur has scored only one of his team-high eight goals in 11 games, and none in the last six. Coming off their best November in 34 years, the Islanders look to win seven straight home games for the first time in more than a decade. Jaroslav Halak made 16 of his 34 saves in the third period to help New York (17-7-0) beat New Jersey 3-1 at Nassau Coliseum on Saturday. Winners in 11 of 13, the Islanders have reached 17 victories faster than in any season during the clubs storied history. New Yorks 11 wins in November are second to the 1980-81 Stanley Cup champion team that won 12. Were doing some good things and we believe in ourselves, said captain John Tavares, who has recorded five of his team-leading 23 points in the last five games. You can see the poise and composure we have now. We just have to keep that going. That is the challenge awaiting a franchise thats been to the playoffs once in seven seasons and hasnt won a postseason series since 1993. Well build off it and get better, Tavares told the Islanders official website. Its obviously been good to get the results we wanted. This puts us in good position, but theres a long way to go. Were doing some good things and we believe in ourselves. That belief has made the difference in the eyes of coach Jack Capuano. From top to bottom, we know were not going to lose, he said. Its about the players and its about accountability, Capuano added when talking to the NHLs official website. Thats the biggest thing for me - the leadership, how theyre handling one another and how theyre holding one another accountable. You can be very successful that way. Playing their last season on Long Island before moving to Brooklyn, the Islanders are 9-2-0 at the Coliseum and own a 22-6 goal advantage during a six-game winning streak there. The Islanders last won seven straight at home from Dec. 6-29, 2003. Halak has played a key role in the teams overall success, posting a 1.19 goals-against average during a nine-game winning streak that followed an 0-4-0 slide during which he had a 3.89 GAA. Halak could have the chance Tuesday to match Billy Smiths club record of 10 straight victories from 1982. Im not thinking of how many games Ive won in the past, Halak said. Im only as good as my last game. Halak faced the Senators for the first time in four years Feb. 4 and dropped his fourth straight to them in a 5-4 shootout loss while with St. Louis. Searched databases and websites. And I contacted the PGA Tour, which continues to look into it. While I cant be 100 per cent certain, based on my sleuthing, the six Canadians who will start in the Frys.Com Open Thursday represents a record for a PGA Tour event not based in Canada. Mike Weir, David Hearn, Graham DeLaet, Brad Fritsch, Adam Hadwin and Nick Taylor will start play in the 2014-15 season opener being held in Napa, Calif., A seventh Canadian, Roger Sloan, is waiting patiently at the tournament, sitting as the fourth alternate as I tap this out. Its pretty heady stuff for Canadian golf fans. Next to the Americans (102) and the Aussies (nine), Canada has the most golfers in this tournament. Thats more than South Africa, more than England and more than South Korea. I can remember days when we would have fewer players in tournaments than golf powerhouses such as Denmark or Fiji. For all six players, the new season represents a chance, an opportunity to start again. Weir, the most seasoned of the bunch, is entering his 18th year on the tour, which, in itself is hard to fathom. After burning his two career money list exemptions the last two seasons, hes playing this year by virtue of finishing 109th on last years money list. In the off-season, Weir signed up with a new coach, Martin Ayers, an Aussie who Weir hopes will get him some consistency. The two spent a great deal of time working on fundamentals. Simple stuff such as alignment and aiming. The lefthander is hoping to find more of what we saw at the HP Byron Nelson last year, where he finished second. Im not sure if Weir, who turns 45 in May, has another major in him, but certainly he has plenty of game left if can find some consistency through the bag. For Graham DeLaet, the time is ripe, perhaps even past due, to finally get a victory. The Weyburn, Sask., native has done just about everything but win on tour and certainly fans are wondering when that breakthrough is going to happen. He is too, no doubt. I would have bet the house that DeLaet would have grabbed a win by now. Trouble is, winning on the PGA Tour is hard. Lots of things have to go your way – good breaks and great play. He might not win this year or he might win five times. But it seems more than likely that he will at least give himself lots of chances. DeLaet is also eyeing the Presidents Cup, taking place in South Korea next October. Hes currently fifth on the points list and if he plays this year as he did last, he should be a lock to bring his emotional game to the squad. David Hearn, by his own admission, is not a guy who is going to go out and shoot a 61 very often. But he will post four rounds of 68. And, as he showed at the Players last year, he can do it on difficult courses. His game is built on consistency and thats what hes hoping to build on for this year. Dont be surprised if Hearn posts a win. He has the talent to do so and he is continuing to get comfortable year after yeaar on tour courses.dddddddddddd Brad Fritsch didnt fare well last year and is playing this week thanks to his top-10 finish in the last regular PGA Tour event, the Wyndham Championship. However, it will also count as his minor medical extension – he received one start for time missed due to injury last year. He needs to finish eighth or better to retain his card for this season. Thats a tall task, but the Ottawa native is more than capable. If he doesnt get that done, hell have head back to the Web.com tour for another year. Thats not the ideal option but Fritsch has a good attitude about his job and is more than prepared to tee it up on that circuit if need be. The Canadian getting the most attention in the pre-season is Adam Hadwin, and with good reason. He tore up the Web.Com Tour last year, finishing as the leading money winner. He was also a finalist for player of the year. Confident without being cocky, Hadwin has the perfect game for the PGA Tour. I would not be the least bit surprised if he became the next Canadian to win on the PGA Tour, ending the drought that extends back to Stephen Ames 2009 win at the Childrens Miracle Network Classic. Nick Taylor put on a finishing kick in the Web.Com Tour finals to gain playing privileges on the PGA Tour. Many thought he would have been here before this, having put up a remarkable amateur career, which included being ranked No. 1 in the world. Of course we tend to do that as Canadian fans, expecting way to much way too soon. But more seasoning was required and now Taylor appears ready for the big leagues. He has played well at this level before – that U.S. Open performance back in 2009 is well known – now he needs to show he can do it consistently. Sloan, who figures he is assured of getting into the McGladrey in a few weeks, will play a waiting game. His status is well down the exemption list and hell need to hope for a few WDs over the next few events to earn spots in fields. Of course he won last year on the Web.Com Tour, at home no less, taking the Nova Scotia Open. While he sputtered across the finish line at the end of the season in no small measure due to the brutal schedule he was forced to play, he is capable of playing on the PGA Tour. Hell just need to bring his best stuff early to keep his status. Its an interesting time, for sure. Now, not all these players will get a full slate of starts. Taylor and Sloan will need fast starts to solidify their positions. Fritsch will need an exceptionally speedy beginning, as in one week. The other four can pick and choose, with DeLaet getting into more of the bigger events thanks to his world ranking. Its great to have a half-dozen out there, playing for themselves but with Canadian flags on their bags. So which one will perform best this year? Or even this week? Its nice to have some choice. I have been at this long enough when there were stretches where no Canadians were playing on the tour. This, I can assure you, is better. Wholesale NFL Jerseys ' ' '
